Attic & Roof Leak Mold Remediation

Dark staining on the roof sheathing? Musty smell from the attic hatch? That’s mold, and it started with a roof leak. We take care of both.

Attic Mold Grows Where Nobody Looks

Most homeowners go into their attic once a year, if that. So a roof leak from a lifted shingle, a bad flashing joint, or last winter’s ice dam can drip onto the insulation and sheathing for months without anyone knowing. Add the warm, still air of an attic in summer and you’ve got ideal conditions for mold.
Quick Response Restoration handles attic mold remediation for homes across Saratoga County and the Capital Region. We’re licensed in New York for mold work, and we’ve cleaned up a lot of attics from Round Lake to Queensbury.Attic mold matters more than people think. Spores pull down into living spaces through the ceiling and HVAC, it degrades the roof sheathing over time, and it’s one of the first things a home inspector flags when you go to sell.

Our Restoration Process

Inspect the Attic

We find the leak, check the sheathing, rafters, and insulation, and document the extent of the mold growth.

Remove and Treat

Moldy insulation comes out, sheathing and framing are cleaned and treated, and containment keeps spores out of the house.

Dry, Repair, and Prevent

The attic is dried and repaired, and we point out the ventilation or roofing issues that caused it.

What Attic Mold Remediation Involves

We start by confirming the source, because remediating mold under an active leak is a waste of your money. Once the roof is addressed, we set up containment at the attic access and run negative air so nothing migrates into the bedrooms below.
Contaminated insulation gets bagged and removed. The sheathing and rafters are HEPA-vacuumed, cleaned, and treated with an antimicrobial. Where wood is too far gone, it’s replaced. Then we dry the space and reinstall insulation. Before we leave, we’ll walk you through what we saw: blocked soffit vents, a bathroom fan dumping into the attic, missing baffles. Fixing those keeps the mold from coming back. Insurance documentation and billing run through us, as with all our work.
